The Bypass Road
• The system was created in 1967. Built to support the realization of Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories.
• At the Palestinians were in transit but after the outbreak of the second intifada in September 2000, Israel decided to reduce the freedom of movement of Palestinians, banning the passage on the bypass road, citing security reasons.
• There are 794.79 miles of these roads. The idea was to connect all the settlements with each other, thus facilitating the movement of settlers. Are considered Israeli territory in every respect. Access is protected by soldiers, surrounded by barbed wire and concrete blocks to limit access. • The system was created in 1967. The Oslo accords divided the Palestinian territory in 3 categories.
-A: where Palestinians have full administrative control and security.
-B: where the Palestinians have only administrative control
-C: where all control is in the hands of the Israelis. area C includes the settlements and a network of "bypass roads" that cut a lot of areas A and B by creating actual physical barriers between the territories to Palestinian control.
path
To the side, albeit with an unexplained variation of color, we were able to load the map of our journey, the part closest to the Strip. (We scored in two different colors made the road by car from the one made by bus).
The dead
We often forget, however, the Israeli victims. The suffering and pain, unfortunately, did not flag. Innocent people are dying on both sides. In the first six months of 2008, 30 people were killed in bombings, firefights or under a hail of rockets and mortars. 30 people of which only seven were soldiers. The others are mostly young men with less than 20 years or older. Thus, before a continuous trickle fact of large or small provocations (probably dictated exasperation) the state of Israel has reacted, perhaps not without ulterior motives, but with the full support of most of the population ...
